We gave a talk in the Spirit of Discovery session at Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2025 on our work in Bhutan, entitled "Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in Lunana, Bhutan". The talk was delivered to ~300 of the general public interested in the outdoors and mountaineering. We updated everyone on progress since our 2024 talking, including our interviews and hazard mapping results.

We gave a talk in the Spirit of Discovery session at Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2024 on our work in Bhutan, entitled "Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in Lunana, Bhutan". The talk was delivered to ~300 of the general public interested in the outdoors and mountaineering. We provided initial insights into our findings and introduce our data collection techniques.

Rachel Carr and Sonam Rinzin presented our Glacial Lake Oubturst Flood (GLOF) research at the Mount Everest Foundation lecture at the Royal Geographical Society, London, on 26th March 2026. The lecture was entitled 'summits, science, and survival' and was presented to special guests from learned societies, related to the mountains and cliamte cahnge, and to the general public. The talk asked what the future holds for mountaineers and mountain communities, drawing on the experiences of young alpinists and pioneering mountain scientists. It combined research into the threat of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods to some of the world’s remotest communities in the Bhutanese Himalaya with new generation approaches to high altitude climbing , from young climbers exploring big routes in Pakistan.
